Job Title: Safety Technician B

Immediate Supervisor: Safety Supervisor

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in new hire safety orientation for employees at site as needed.
  • Issues new and replacement personal protective equipment, ensuring employees have a clear understanding of its importance, as well as how to utilize the equipment properly.
  • Perform reoccurring inspections respectively, ensure they’re color coded and complete inspection forms for all safety devices/equip required for task.
  • Ensure users perform pre-use inspections and utilized/maintained the devices/equip properly. Report findings to appropriate supervision.
  • Ensures tools and equipment are utilize safely as intended by the manufacturer.
  • Assists in daily jobsite toolbox meetings.
  • Perform and document daily job site audits to ensure compliance with site and company safety policies/standards, as well as applicable industry standards. Communicate all findings to appropriate supervision.
  • Ensures employees carry the necessary training credentials to perform job specific tasks.
  • Assist in pre-job hazard analysis.
  • Assist in incident/accident investigation as needed. 
  • Performs related administrative responsibilities as needed.
  • Actively participates in site Behavior Based Safety Program.
  • Adheres to all relevant health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions, and controls in order to guarantee the safety of employees and environmental compliance.

Skills:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 49lbs
  • Ability to work at heights in excess of 50feet
  • Ability to push, pull, turn, hold, grab: objects, materials, controls, and tools
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairways, work from man lifts
  • Ability to work out on an open structure / platform using the appropriate fall protection requirements
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glass/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather steel toe work boots

 Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a commercial/industrial plant environment.
  • Must have OSHA training in safety or equivalence. 
  • CPR, AED & First Aid preferred.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Must meet all physical requirements
  • Must successfully pass background, drug/alcohol testing
